This year, I have discovered that I really
enjoy creative writing. I had a chance to discover this after our many
different genres we explored. Writing the personal narrative and poems was the
most fun for me because I got to use detail and imagery. Throughout the year, I
have also learned more techniques to make my creative writing stronger, like
different sound patterns and methods of figurative language.
During my English class this year, I
really feel like I have improved in every aspect of my writing. I have looked
at some of my writing from the years past, and I can’t even believe I wrote it.
My writing now seems so much fuller with its more sophisticated central ideas
and vivid detail. One thing that I noticed was this year, I wanted my writing
to be good, and I put everything I had into it. Last year, in contrast, I didn’t
care if my writing sounded like me or if it was as good as it could possibly
be, I just cared about getting it over with. So, not only have I grown in my
writing techniques, I have grown to enjoy the pieces I write.
